FocusArt keeps most of what you do in the app on your own device. This page explains the few things that leave it: optional Apple Health and Calendar writes, the optional weekly leaderboard, and the analytics and subscription services that keep FocusArt running.

1. Who we are

FocusArt is a focus timer for Apple platforms, developed and published by Collective Creation (Collective Creation). This policy covers both the FocusArt app and this website.

Questions about this policy: focusart@collectivecreation.company.

2. What FocusArt is (and is not)

FocusArt helps you run timed focus sessions, plan your work, and review your history, and rewards completed sessions with paintings from art history. It is productivity software: not a medical device, not a mental-health treatment, and not a substitute for professional advice.

3. Data stored on your devices

FocusArt keeps your core data locally on your iPhone or Mac: session history and streaks, your focus goal and mode preferences, planner notes, and the paintings you've earned. Some of this also syncs between your own devices over iCloud (section 7).

4. Apple Health (optional)

If you turn on Apple Health sync in Settings, FocusArt writes a Mindful Minutes sample to HealthKit each time you complete a focus session. This is write-only: FocusArt never reads your Health data. iPhone only; there is no Health integration on Mac.

5. Apple Calendar (optional)

If you turn on calendar sync in Settings, FocusArt adds an event to your default calendar for each completed focus session. This is write-only: FocusArt never reads your existing calendar events.

6. Sign in with Apple and the leaderboard (optional)

The weekly leaderboard is optional. If you sign in with Apple to join it, Apple shares a stable, anonymized identifier with FocusArt (and your name, only if you choose to share it). We store that identifier, a display name, and your weekly focus minutes and session count on Convex, the backend service behind the leaderboard, so you can be ranked against other participants. None of this applies if you never sign in.

7. iCloud and Apple services

Your focus goal, mode preferences, and other settings sync between your own devices using Apple's iCloud key-value storage. That data is stored and transmitted under Apple's own iCloud terms and privacy practices, which FocusArt does not control.

8. Screen Time and distraction blocking

Sanctuary, FocusArt's distraction blocker, uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework on iPhone to block apps and websites you choose during a focus session. Apple's framework is designed so FocusArt never sees which specific apps or websites you've selected: your selection stays encrypted and on-device, visible only to Apple's system APIs. On Mac, website blocking works by asking your browser to close matching tabs during a session, entirely on your device; FocusArt does not send your browsing activity anywhere.

9. Analytics and third-party services

FocusArt and this website use a small number of third-party services:

  • PostHog — provides product analytics for the app and this website, so we can see which features are used and find bugs. PostHog receives anonymized usage events, not your paintings, planner notes, or session content.
  • RevenueCat — manages in-app subscriptions and purchase entitlements on Apple platforms. RevenueCat receives your purchase history, subscription status, and an anonymous app-user identifier so we can verify Pro access.
  • Convex — the backend service behind the weekly leaderboard and the painting catalog. See section 6 for what it stores about you.

None of these services receive your planner notes, local session history, or Health/ Calendar data — those stay on your device or in your own iCloud account.

10. This website

This website (focusart.collectivecreation.company) is a static marketing site. Standard web server and content-delivery logs are kept by our hosting provider. PostHog (section 9) uses cookies or local storage to tell visits apart. The Contact page opens your email app; we don't run a contact form or store what you type there.

11. International users

Your information may be processed in the United States and other regions where Apple, PostHog, RevenueCat, Convex, and our hosting provider run their systems.

12. Your choices

You can turn Apple Health sync, Calendar sync, and the leaderboard on or off at any time in Settings. Turning a toggle off stops future writes; it doesn't delete data already written to Health, Calendar, or the leaderboard — manage those directly in the Health or Calendar app, or contact us for leaderboard removal. To ask about or delete data FocusArt or its backend services hold on your behalf, email focusart@collectivecreation.company.

13. Regional rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or the California CCPA/CPRA). Contact focusart@collectivecreation.company to exercise any of these rights.

14. Changes

We may update this policy as FocusArt changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and look for a way to flag significant changes in the app.
